‘It all began on December 19 with a message I posted to the the “G-Force Adventure”
WhatsApp group:
The Covid pandemic was still ongoing. We had been vaccinated, but the boredom was settling
in. Meanwhile, I had caught COVID-19 without showing any symptoms. It was time to return to normal life.
At first, I thought about going to the Caribbean and renting a boat for a week. However, the weekly charter cost was about the same as our yearly catamaran expenses, so renting seemed uneconomical. “Let’s send G-Force,” I said. Then my friends suggested, “Why don’t we go along with G-Force as well?”
After posting my messages, I began planning with friends who expressed interest. A quick decision was made, and the five-person crew settled on dates to cross from Las Palmas to Antigua.
I already had the trip mapped out in my mind, so all I had to do was gather the necessary gear.’
